The city of Tiffin, Ohio has been shaken by a tragic murder‑suicide that claimed the lives of two children and two adult men on Wednesday evening. Police Chief David Pauly reported that officers were dispatched to a residence on Huss Street shortly before 6:30 p.m. following calls of gunfire and distress.

Upon entering the home, officers discovered an adult male and two young boys suffering from gunshot wounds, alongside an adult woman who, though physically unharmed, was in visible shock. One child and the man were pronounced dead at the scene, while the second child and the woman—identified as the mother—were transported to the hospital. Sadly, the second boy succumbed to his injuries.

Chief Pauly emphasized the gravity of the event, noting that the community is unaccustomed to tragedies of such magnitude and urging residents to keep the victims’ families in their thoughts. He also called for support of first responders who continue to process the emotional toll of the incident.

Local residents expressed shock, with neighbor Lisa Runion describing her disbelief upon returning home to find the street cordoned off. On Thursday morning, the Mayor of Tiffin issued a statement underscoring the city’s grief and resilience, praising the courage of emergency personnel and urging the community to stand united in support of the bereaved family.

John Tench_ From the early days of Canadian television with shows like The Littlest Hobo, to his work in Los Angeles casting Andromeda—where he gave me the chance to play the unforgettable Galactic Villain Gerentex the NightSider Allan’s career was filled with creativity, vision, and mentorship. We spent countless hours in his office comparing notes on Richard III, Iago, and other great villains, conversations that reflected his deep love of storytelling and history.

I will never forget his presence at the reading of Chris Humphreys’ play Shakespeare’s Rebel—a moment that, though I didn’t know it then, would be our last together.

My deepest condolences go out to Sybil, Cynthia, and the rest of his family. Though I never made it to the Adriatic to join him in exploring the history of Western theatre, I will carry on that journey in his honor.

Thank you, Allan, for everything for our talks about Lord of the Rings, world history, our shared ancestors, Valhalla, and the great books you introduced me to. You are surely on the Rainbow Bridge now, and I know we will meet again in Valhalla, raising a glass to our adventures.

William Barnes Passed Away: Family Mourns Tragic Death

    Bret Barnes with Curtis Barnes

I write this post with an extremely heavy heart…

Our father recently had an accident where he fractured multiple vertebrae. He underwent neurosurgery and somehow made it through the 10 hour surgery. This is the second surgery of this kind he had to undergo in the last few years. If anyone knows our dad they know how much pain he has overcome through his life and he always laughs and jokes his way through it all. He endured over a decade of hemodialysis where he never complained once. He silently battled through it all displaying his ridiculous sense of humor every step of the way.
On Tuesday, November 18th our father, William Barnes, unfortunately passed away. He is no longer hurting and no longer having to fight each and every day. We love you dad! We miss you so incredibly much but we have peace knowing you are with the lord and resting peacefully.
Love like Bill. No matter the pain and struggles in your life navigate it all with a smile and a sense of humor that makes those around you laugh (no matter how ridiculous the dad jokes are). Never let those question the love you have for them, always express it and show it just as he did.
For those interested we will post dates for his services which will be held after the holidays. If anyone has any photos of Bill or with Bill they want added to a slide show at his celebration of life please post them in the comments section!
We appreciate all the love and support we have already recieved. THANK YOU ALL!!
Funeral, obituary  and memorial arrangements will be announced soon.
