It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Erik Elken, a 24‑year‑old University of South Carolina student and Philadelphia native, who died in November 2025 after a courageous battle with Stage IV NUT sarcoma, a rare and aggressive cancer.
Erik’s illness was initially misdiagnosed as a torn labrum, but doctors later discovered tumors in his femur and surrounding tissue. Despite months of treatment and unwavering community support, the cancer spread rapidly.
